Council (IEC) is the supreme body of the International Police
Association, and has overall responsibility for it.

IPA Delegates
and Observers
XVII World Congress - Trondheim, Norway |
The IEC is composed of one delegate from
each Section and of the Permanent Executive Bureau (PEB). The IEC meets
every three years at an IPA World Congress, and between Congresses, once
a year at an IEC conference.
The delegate from each
Section, providing
voting rights have not been suspended in accordance with the
Association's rules, is invited to attend the IPA World Congress and IEC
Conferences at the expense of the Association.
Each member section and the PEB have one
vote in the IEC. Where a Section is prevented from attending, that
Section may be represented by another Section

In
2000 the International Police Association celebrated it's 50th anniversary The occasion
was marked with the XVI World Congress being held in the founder
country, Great Britain, at Bournemouth attended by Her Royal Highness
The Princess Royal. During the conference programme,
a rededication service was held at Salisbury Cathedral.
These
conferences always include a programme for visitors. Members travel from all parts of the World to participate and share
in these Friendship events.
